Jodeci Freestyle, released June 22, 2013 ahead of Nothing Was the Same, pairs Drake with J. Cole on a brash, flex-driven track that pays homage to the R&B group Jodeci, produced by Bink! and co-produced by Noah '40' Shebib and featuring a spoken interlude from Drake's father, Dennis Graham. It is best known for controversy: a line in J. Cole's verse that disparaged autism prompted Cole to issue a Twitter apology and then a longer written apology, after which Drake also apologized on the OVO site and the two had the lyric removed from the song (it is censored in the Care Package version). It was the second of four Drake/J. Cole collaborations (after 2010's 'In the Morning', later followed by 2023's 'First Person Shooter' and 'Evil Ways'). On Care Package it diversifies the compilation as a purely competitive record.
