Jaded

Jaded is one of Scorpion's most vulnerable singing-side songs, widely read as Drake acknowledging that he hurt someone and contributed to their growing cynicism about relationships. Where much of his romantic writing positions him as the wronged party, Jaded leans the other way — an apology and an admission that he was the one who left a partner guarded and disillusioned. The production is soft and slow-moving, giving the confession room to breathe. As a deep cut it does important emotional work on the album's back half, supplying the accountability that balances Scorpion's more accusatory love songs and reinforcing the disc's turn toward introspection.
