Underdog
Featuring Trey Songz
"Underdog" is the one Comeback Season cut framed in combative, rap-contest terms — the prove-the-doubters-wrong stance of an artist who feels overlooked. It reads as Drake channeling the underestimated-Canadian, not-from-the-usual-scene narrative into a more aggressive register than the tape's introspective norm, asserting he belongs in the conversation. The 40 and Boi-1da production keeps it grounded while the writing carries the chip-on-the-shoulder energy. As a deep cut it's a useful counterweight: it shows the competitive, willing-to-spar side of Drake existing alongside the vulnerable one from the very beginning — a duality that would define his career, where sensitivity and combativeness coexist. The underdog framing is also quietly ironic in hindsight, given how thoroughly the position reversed.
