Pop Style

Pop Style

Released April 5, 2016 as part of the Views rollout, Pop Style is widely read as a flex about wealth, dominance, and moving through the world insulated by success. Produced by Sevn Thomas, Frank Dukes, Boi-1da and Noah "40" Shebib over a hypnotic, minimal beat with a chant-like hook, it reads as Drake at his most untouchable. The rollout itself became a story: the original single credited 'the Throne' (Kanye West and Jay-Z) and was billed as the first track featuring all three, but Jay-Z's contribution was trimmed to a couple of lines and the verses were removed entirely for the album version, making the LP cut a Drake-solo track. It peaked at No. 16 on the Hot 100 and was nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 59th Grammys.
