U.P.A.
"U.P.A." reads as another of Room for Improvement's coded-title tracks, where the abbreviation itself becomes part of the statement. Thematically it sits in the tape's dominant register: ambition, self-belief and the determination of someone trying to break out of Toronto without a deal. The 40 and Boi-1da production keeps it subdued and reflective. Like much of this debut, it's more workshop than finished thought — Drake testing how to package conviction. As a deep cut its value is contextual rather than musical: it's another brick in the wall of self-motivation this tape is built from, and another small look at the relentless drive underneath the later, calmer confidence.
