Know Yourself
Know Yourself is the IYRTITL track that did the most to convert Toronto's nickname 'the 6' from local slang into a globally recognized brand. Produced by Boi-1da, Vinylz, and Syk Sense, the song moves in two halves: a slow-building, almost meditative first verse over a brittle, looped vocal sample, then a sudden trap-drum drop that detonates into one of the most-recognized chants of the 2010s. Drake is widely read as detailing his return to Toronto after early-career years on the road, ticking off neighborhoods, friends, and old loyalties. The song's call-and-response chorus — built around 'running through the 6 with my woes' — became an instant inside-joke-as-anthem, with 'woes' (working on excellence) entering the slang lexicon. The song never received a traditional single push but quickly became one of the most-performed live moments in Drake's setlists, where the beat-drop is treated as a stadium event. It's one of the central proofs that IYRTITL's surprise February 2015 drop was an album in everything but name.
